[DE] Am 22. Juni 2017 wurde eine Gedenktafel an einem Haus in Drohobycz enthüllt. Die Inschrift lautet: „Eberhard Helmrich, Gebietslandwirt des Distrikts Drohobycz, wohnte während der deutschen Besatzung (1941-1944) in diesem Haus. Er und seine Frau Donata retteten die Leben hunderter Juden aus Drohobycz und Umgebung“. Bei der Gedenkfeier sprachen der Bürgermeister von Drohobycz, Taras Kuchma, der Vorsitzende der jüdischen Gemeinde, Jozef Karpin, Varda Ghivoly von der „Drohobycz, Boryslaw and Vicinity Organisation“ aus Israel und Georg Goosmann für ASF.

„Ich wünschte, ich könnte heute mit Ihnen in Drohobycz zusammen sein, aber leider ist es nicht möglich. Ich danke allen, die sich hier vor diesem Haus versammeln, in dem mein Vater während der dunklen Jahres des Krieges wohnte… Mögen Menschen, die hier vorbeikommen, hin und wieder auf diese „Erinnerungstafel“ blicken und sich fragen, was dieser Mann für andere getan hat…“

[EN] On 22 June 2017 a memorial plaque was unveiled at a house in Drohobycz. The inscription reads: „Eberhard Helmrich, Chief Economic Officer of the Drohobycz district, lived in this house during the German occupation (1941-1944). He and his wife Donata saved the lives of hundreds of Jews from Drohobycz and surrounding places„.

At the memorial service spoke the Mayor of Drohobycz, Taras Kuchma, the Chairman of the Jewish Community, Jozef Karpin, Varda Ghivoly from the „Drohobycz, Boryslaw and Vicinity Organisation“ from Israel and Georg Goosmann for ASF. Georg also presented the greeting address of Cornelia Schmalz-Jacobsen, the daughter of the Helmrichs:

„I wish I could be with you today in Drohobycz, but unfortunately it is not possible. I thank all of you who are gathering in front of this house where my father lived during the dark years of the war… May people who walk by, now and then look at this „Erinnerungstafel“ and wonder, what this man has done for others…“

[PL] W dniu 22 czerwca 2017 roku w domu w Drohobyczu odsłonięto tablicę pamiątkową. Napis brzmi: „W tym budynku podczas niemieckiej okupacji (1941-1944) mieszkał Eberhard Helmrich, glowny dydrektor ekonomiczny Dystryktu Drohobycz. On i jego żona Donata uratowali życie setkom Żydów Drohobycza i okolic„. Podczas uroczystości upamiętniającej przemawiali: burmistrz Drohobycza Taras Kuczma, przewodniczący Gminy Żydowskiej Józef Karpin, Varda Ghivoly z Organizacji „Drohobycz, Boryslaw i Vicinity“ z Izraela oraz Georg Goosmann w imieniu ASF. Georg odczytał również przemówienie Cornelii Schmalz-Jacobsen, córki Helmrichów:

„Chciałabym być dzisiaj z wami w Drohobyczu, ale niestety nie jest to możliwe. Dziękuję wszystkim, którzy zgromadzili się tu przed domem, w którym mieszkał mój ojciec w ciemnych latach wojny… Niech ludzie, którzy co jakiś czas tu przechodzą, spojrzą na tę „tablicę pamiątkową“ i zadają sobie pytanie, co ten człowiek zrobił dla innych…“ .
