[DE] Ende Oktober 1938 wurden auf Anweisung Himmlers und in Abstimmung mit dem Auswärtigen Amt mindestens 17.000 polnischstämmige Juden nach Polen ausgewiesen. Die überraschende Ausweisung erfolgte gewaltsam. Davon betroffen waren auch viele gut integrierte Juden aus Galizien, die erfolgreich ihre wirtschaftliche Existenz als Handwerker oder Kaufleute aufgebaut und Familien gegründet hatten.

Die meisten Ausgewiesenen zogen in die Orte, in denen sie oder ihre Vorfahren geboren waren – nach Lemberg, Tarnopol, Drohobycz, Boryslaw… 1941 kamen sie wieder in die Gewalt der Nationalsozialisten – fast alle wurden im Holocaust umgebracht. Zu den Opfern gehörten Berta und Salomon Bikales aus Berlin.

[EN] At the end of October 1938, at least 17,000 Jews of Polish origin were expelled to Poland on Himmler’s orders and in coordination with the Foreign Office. The surprising expulsion took place by force. Many well integrated Jews from Galicia, who had successfully built up their economic existence as craftsmen or merchants and founded families, were also affected.

Most of the expellees moved to the places where they or their ancestors were born – Lviv, Tarnopol, Drohobycz, Boryslaw… In 1941 they were again in the hands of the National Socialists – almost all were killed in the Holocaust. Among the victims were Berta and Salomon Bikales from Berlin.

[PL] Pod koniec października 1938 roku zostało wydalonych do Polski, na polecenie Himmlera i w porozumieniu z Ministerstwem Spraw Zagranicznych, około 17 000 Żydów pochodzenia polskiego. Tego zaskakującego wydalenia dokonano przemocą. Dotknęło ono także wielu dobrze zintegrowanych Żydów z Galicji, którzy prowadzili udaną działalność gospodarczą jako rzemieślnicy lub kupcy, a także założyli rodziny.

Większość wydalonych udała się do miejsc, w których urodzili się oni lub ich przodkowie – do Lwowa, Tarnopola, Drohobycza, Borysławia…w 1941 roku znaleźli się znowu na terenie działania narodowych socjalistów – prawie wszyscy zostali zamordowani w Holokauście. Do ofiar należeli również Berta i Salomon Bikales z Berlina.
